dancing with the Bedouins

For our third day in Jordan we drove into the Wadi Rum desert area to Jabal Rum camp and stayed in a tent city. Out of maybe 150 tents, we were the only people staying there with the Bedouins. Even though the Middle East upheaval that is going on in Syria, Libya etc, Jordan is totally stable and safe. But the tourists are staying away from this wonderful country.
We did have a group of women who taxied over from Israel to the camp and joined us for dinner and dancing. The dinner was cooked in the traditional Bedouin way, chicken and lamb buried in containers in the sand with hot coals for several hours, then served with a large mixture of fresh and cooked veggies, hummus, yogurt and lots of spices. Delicious!
